Exploding Toads

Are Crows Exploding Toads?

"Toads have been exploding by the hundreds in Germany because they are being attacked by crows, a veterinary surgeon revealed on Thursday. Animal welfare workers and veterinarians had reported that as many as 1,000 toads had swelled to bursting point and exploded in recent days, propelling their entrails up three feet into the air."

Apparently, when the toads puff up in self-defense, they literally pop when the crows attack them.

Something to consider, though... the toads are exploding at night. Crows are not nocturnal. Chew on that one.

This limerick that follows was intended to be a response to the blogger random question (paraphrased): The children are impatient. They want to hear the story of the bald frog with the wig. Unfortunately, it was too long to serve as the answer to the question. So I have published it here for your viewing pleasure.

THE "FROG" WITH THE WIG

There once was a frog with a wig
He turned on his heel to dance a jig
He looked rather bloated,
Oh no, he exploded!
I guess 'twas a toad from Berlin.
